Mission Sentence | At Brinkworth Earl Danby's School we believe that religious education is a vital part of helping children to develop into thoughtful, reflective learners. A subject that not only stands alone, but one that should be an integral part of our daily lives. Religious education affords pupils both the opportunity to see the religion and non-religion in the world and the opportunity to make sense of their own place in that world. (DFE 2021). |

Right to withdraw
At Brinkworth Earl Danby’s school we wish to be an inclusive community but recognise that parents have the legal right to withdraw their children from religious education on the grounds of conscience. However, the right of withdrawal does not extend to other areas of the curriculum when, as may happen on occasion, spontaneous questions on religious matters are raised by pupils or there are issues related to religion that arise in other subjects such as history or citizenship. We would ask any parent considering this to do so by making concerns known and applying in writing to the Headteacher. The school will invite any enquiring parents or legal guardians to talk through concerns.
