Governing bodies provide strategic leadership and accountability in schools.

The governing body has four key functions:

• Setting the Vision and Strategic direction for the school.
• Holding the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils.
• Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.
• Engaging with school stakeholders.
